Budget cuts...travel immediately impacted...expecting staffing to be impacted as well, likely with hiring freeze if my crystal ball is any good. I think our challenge is to continue to think strategically during these times. A good strategic plan will guide tough decisions during the good times and bad. I am wondering about our LTM meetings, and am positive we'll be talking about the impact, but I am sure we will continue to make impact if we keep our focus on the members and their needs!

I agree with most others on the blog. This economy is going to be a real difficulty for many folks. I was told to not even ask about Hawaii in October. Unfortunately the time is not right economically and politically at this point.
Has anyone read Joseph Storch's Commentary in this weeks Chronicle of Higher Ed about Electronically Sourcing Textbooks? It certainly sounds good for the students, but not good for bookstores and those of us who depend on them.

I firmly believe that the economic crisis has provided us with any opportunity to really make some positive changes on our campus. That is my top challenge to use this crisis to do something great.
2) Please provide more professional development opportunities via the web. This will allow me to provide more of our staff with opportunities that decreased travel would otherwise have eliminated.

We will surely be challenged by the economic situation and anticipated pressures on intitutional travel and professional development resources. Those same factors may present opportunities for new programs and delivery methods. We should also think about strategic positioning for the period of recovery and return to a stronger market.

As we all go through budget cuts, it is important to remember what is best for the students on our campus. I too often forget that students are the reason we are here and our decisions need to be guided with them being our number one priority. I have no idea why I am writing this.

1. Budget cuts...most likely to be cut the most travel. How will this impact both national and regional conferences and professional development? 2. Now more than ever we need to stay connected and share ideas of what we doing on our campus to save money but yet serve our clients.

1. Making the NACAS annual conference a success.
2. Raising more money for the Education Foundation this year than last.
3. Selling houses in Fullerton.
1. Brainstorming on mew marketing ideas. Looking for new ways to save on expenses for the conference.
2. Brainstorming on new/improved fundraising ideas. Build on prior momentum.
3. Would love to have some great ideas....
