Chris Fulkerson is the Assistant Vice President for Administrative Services and Assistant Professor of Communications. He is responsible for Auxiliary Services, The Phoenix Card, and Risk Management (Insurance and Compliance).
On January 2000, Mr. Fulkerson was appointed the first Chief Information Officer for Elon University and was responsible for the leadership and management of all technology at Elon University—a position he held until June of 2014. Since joining the staff in 1982, Mr. Fulkerson has held various positions including Assistant Professor of Communications, Director of the Library, Director of LaRose Resources Center, Director of the Teagle Professional Development Program, and Coordinator of Cable/Satellite Television. In May of 2007, he was selected as administrative staff member of the year.
Mr. Fulkerson speaks nationally on such topics as classroom technology, teaching with technology, technology planning and forming a partnership between the library and technology. Additionally, he is active in EDUCAUSE at the regional and national levels. Mr. Fulkerson has served on the advisory board for higher education at Gateway Computers, on the governance board of the North Carolina Learning Object Repository, and as a co-chair of MCNC’s Collaborative Services Work Group. In 2010, Mr. Fulkerson was appointed by the Governor as technical advisor to the North Carolina eLearning Commission. He has served on the Professional Development Committee for EDUCAUSE, as a mentor through EDUCAUSE and on the Higher Ed Advisory Panel for ACUTA.
Mr. Fulkerson has an undergraduate degree in Mass Communication from Saint John Fisher College in Rochester, New York and an MFA in Film and Video Production from University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He has completed the course work towards a Doctor of Education in Higher Education from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
