Carpooling

We are looking for a way to have students contact each other regarding carpooling.  However there is worry on the campuses as to liability if we were to make/aid in the connection for the students.  I have found an app called Wheeli.  Does anyone use the app Wheeli at their campus?  Or do you have suggestions on how to arrange carpooling opportunities?  We do not charge for parking per se because we do not have any lot control on the campuses.

    Thank you

    Ray

I haven't used Wheeli - but check out Zim Ride too...  they have a good platform and I've heard good things about it from our students.

We promote Wheeli here at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. Both the University of Vermont and Saint Michaels College do too, so we get the benefit of having a larger pool of students who are going places. We typically see Wheeli being used for long-distance travel, not necessarily commuting. The organization is great to work with, and can provide collateral too for promotion purposes.

The State of Vermont promotes a carpool matching service which students are welcome and encouraged to use at https://www.connectingcommuters.org/carpool/ using the GoVermont! tool (which is in partnership with Agile Mile).

    Good luck,
    Nic

    Hi Ray,

I have been exploring the Ride Shark app (http://www.rideshark.com/). I believe they have a screening process prior to allowing people to use their service. If interested you can call Will Ness at 1-613-656-2051 and I'm sure he will be happy to walk you thorough their platform.
