Here at Morehead State University our Golf Course "Eagle Trace" is under the Auxiliary Service's wing. I would like to know if any campus operating a golf course has a mandatory fee (I know the dreaded "F" word on campus) for each full time student. We have about a $90K annual budget shortfall and would be looking at a $5 to $10 fee per semester. The semester fee would include free green fees for each student. Any info would be appreciated.

    Good Morning, Charles.

Coastal Carolina University has the General James Hackler Golf Course that is under Auxiliary Enterprises.  it is a public course but also has reserved times for our PGM students and golf teams as well as is utilized for Introduction to Golf classes.  A fee is assessed to the PGM students since they are utilizing not only the course but all of the facility to help with experimental learning in the golf environment.   Students that sign up for the Introduction to Golf classes are also assessed a "lab" fee for the use of the course.  We do not charge every full time student a golf course fee only those that have specific classes that take place at the facility.  We do sell student memberships that are available per semester, per academic year, or a full calendar year.  You can check out more information at our course's website:

If you have any other questions you can also reach out to our General Manager of Sports Turf and Golf Course Operations, Chuck Johns, at or 843-349-6596.
