requiring students to have lock box for prescription medications

  • 1.  requiring students to have lock box for prescription medications

We have students with various prescribed medications and are considering whether to require they have them in a lock box and if so, should we provide one so we have a key?  We have not pursued this because we don't want to to encourage students to have illegal drugs "safely" stored from us, but we are also experiencing some on-going prescription drugs thefts, student interest in securing their prescribed drugs, and rising awareness of how to respect students who are in recovery.
    1. Do you require a prescription drug lockbox? encourage one?
    2. Do you provide one?
    3. Do you keep access, if you require or provide?
    4. What about commuter students - do they need a lock box for their car or locker?
What else aren't we thinking about?

thanks for your attention and help.
