External Organizations on Campus

External entities often approach us looking for lease or free space at our university.  Some organizations have a clear and direct benefit to our students and some are only tangentially beneficial.

We would like to develop a policy that would guide us in making a determination whether or not to lease to various external organizations.  Such a policy would not only help us make objectively based decisions but will also help us if we need to decline the request.

We would appreciate any guidance and/or sample policies.

In addition, we are interested in learning how other university's charge external entities who occupy university space.  What services do you provide as part of the lease and what services do the external entities pay for.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Hello Richard,

I am glad to help you out.  Please give me a call to discuss.  We can talk through some of the policies and procedures we have to suggest.  I think it's important understand what your campus priorities are when it comes to external groups.  Is it primarily for revenue generation or community support?
