Hello NACAS.I am looking for help/direction on what Financial Aid software others are using to assist between the Financial Aid Office and the Bookstore. Our Financial Aid Office started using a new software from Ellucian's Colleague (it is a module from within the Colleague system) about a year ago called FA Link that is licensed through TrimData. The software is supposed to be real-time and a two-way interface between our FA Office and Bookstore. However, this software is fine when our FA Office is inputting the information for the student, but does not function well with the bookstore. It's been taking us an average of 34 seconds to process each transaction in the bookstore, the bookstore cannot see if the student has financial aid or what type, connection goes down quite often between the College and FA Link, FA Link does not allow credit back to the student's financial aid account if that student returns a book, etc. We are curious to know what other software is being used for Financial Aid communication between the FA Office and Bookstore. Our student information software is Colleague and our bookstore is ran by Barnes and Noble.If anyone has a software solution that is working great for them, I would be very interested.
We do not currently have the ability to charge student financial aid, but have been in talks with FA Link. I am interested to hear more of what you think of FA Link and what works well vs. shortcomings.

Hi. I will have my bookstore manager, Kim Oaks, reach out to you since she has been experiencing the most frustration. We keep being told by FA Link and TrimData that an update is in the process and they are beta testing. However, according to our IT folks, they have been looking for a beta tester for over a year now.
