As some campuses are moving to temporary remote learning, is anyone considering financial compensation for the time students are away from campus for meal plans and/ or housing?

Hi Beth.  We are starting online education only on Monday and have asked students in residence halls to head for home by Friday afternoon (next week). We will be providing prorated refunds for housing and meal plans, as well s parking.  We haven't finalized the details, but it looks like we'll be using a days model (updated)..., but we're still working through it.  If more info can be made available, I'll share.  Curious to see what others are dong as well.
    Thanks.

    Jason

Elizabeth City State University will be transitioning from in-person instruction to a system of alternative course delivery on March 30, 2020. Our residence halls will be open for students to remain on campus. There has been no mention of granting refunds.

We are having the same conversations within our university, and I would love to hear from others as well.

The situation continues to evolve, but heading into an expanded two weeks of spring break, the plan is for all classes to resume as online only.  Right now housing will remain open for residential students if they wish to return.  Initially, housing was not going to grant refunds, but no decision is final and the situation is fluid at this point.  Meal plan refunds could vary based on housing's refund decision or an update to the university's plan to allow students to remain on campus.  I anticipate some form of prorated refund, and I will update as we work through the details.

Similarly to others, we have extended our Spring Break and are preparing to move classes on-line on the 23rd.  We have not closed housing and will provide minimal dining options.  At this time we have decided not to refund, however, as the situation changes, and if we determine we must completely close housing, we may decide to refund.
Hope everyone is hanging in there!
