What social media platforms do you find to be the most effective for your services? Currently we have Facebook pages for USD Auxiliaries, our campus store, and our sit-down restaurant/pub. (We had one for dining and one for conferences but I got rid of them due to very low numbers and engagement).

I use the main Auxiliaries FB page to promote our other departments like Dining, Conferences, Campus Card, Mail, Copy etc. It seems that interest in Facebook continues to be on the decline and we get very little engagement. I maintain what we do have mostly for parents who may follow them. We also have a few Twitter accounts- also not very impactful. Instagram is by far our most effective platform- it is great to be able to do regular posts and videos to the story... we have 2 accounts: one for dining and one for the campus store... sometimes I feel like deleting the individual accounts and just keeping one Auxiliary account- but I fear no one will find us as many people don't even know what "auxiliary" means!? Thoughts?

We have a lot of social accounts, too many in my opinion. I've been at my job just under a year, and a number of the accounts were dormant for a period before I got started my job. I figured I would go through one year, then dive into data and analytics and make some changes.

Here's a run-down of our accounts; those that seem like they're worth keeping based on following and engagement are noted with a *.

    Dining Services
    • Facebook
    • Twitter
    • Instagram*
    • Snapchat

    Campus Stores
    • Facebook*
    • Twitter
    • Instagram*
    • Pinterest

Public Safety (includes parking & transportation)
    • Facebook*
    • Twitter*
    • Instagram*

Conferences & Events (handles external clients only, not internal events)
    • Facebook
    • Instagram*
    • Pinterest*

    Printing Services
    • Facebook

We don't have any accounts for auxiliary services as a whole. Auxiliary Services isn't a commonly understood term within our own campus community, and it's certainly not something our external clients for event services or the print shop are looking for. Doesn't seem like we'd get a robust enough following to justify the time we'd put into it.
