    Hello Everyone,

Here at Bridgewater State University, we have a number of parking lots designated specifically for commuters and a number of lots specifically for resident students. All are first come, first serve. We have been discussing the possibility of going a step further of assigning these parking lots to our students and possibly even assigning specific parking spaces.

    • Does anyone currently have a process in place to assign specific lots and/or spaces to students?
    • Does anyone currently use a lottery system to allow students to then select parking lot/space?
      • If you do, could you share how this works for your campus and how it was put in place?
      • Is there software in place to facilitate the process?

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

At Clark Atlanta University, we have assigned parking lots for students but not spaces.  It is on a first come, first serve basis at the beginning of each semester.

    Hi, Susan.

At the University of Hawaii at Manoa, the only parking lot specifically for students is a small lot dedicated to student housing residents.  However, it is first come, first served.

For regular non-housing permit parking, students are restricted to parking in our lower campus parking structures.  No one at our campus has reserved (assigned) parking stalls except for eligible employees - deans/directors of major academic units, vice chancellors, and the chancellor; and of those eligible employees, those who choose to purchase a reserved stall have to pay a premium.  Currently the premium is an additional 50% of the permit price, but for fall 2019, the reserved stall pricing will increase to double the standard permit price.
