    Greetings,

We are about to update our RFP for dining, bookstore and vending.  I am interested in what other institutions have included in their RFPs and some things to look for in doing this.  I am also interested if anyone is willing to share their documents.

    Any assistance will be appreciated.

    Dr. Johnson,

Attached is a version of the RFP we used for our Food Service Management Company a few years ago.  We are quite small in comparison to you, but you may find it helpful.

    Good Morning,

A colleague of mine is a researcher at the University of North Carolina Charlotte, Dr. Jake Smithwick, that has collected 100's of RFPs, a great many of them in higher ed and has helped several universities with various RFP implementation for bookstores, dining and print services, janitorial, etc. He has analyzed many RFPs and their associated "project" outcomes to identify best RFP practices that result in better vendors being hired.  You may have seen Jake at a NACAS event presenting on making your RFPs better.  He has a wealth of knowledge in getting out of the rut of cut and paste  and truly optimizing RFPs to get better vendors to do your work.

We are both involved in a non-profit member group called the Center for Procurement Excellence that focuses on helping the industry optimize their RFPs.  CPE has a conference coming up in March in Los Angeles that includes RFP training and receiving their credential.  Jake and I will be there helping with their event. www.center4procurement.org

Feel free to contact me, I am happy to provide you as much info as I have and get you in touch with Jake.
